ARCHITECTURE
With over 20 years of experience in the field of architecture, our team at HOOS has worked in many multi-million pound high profile projects both in the UK, the Middle and the Far East, combining urban design, architecture, interior and product design. We have provided design and development advice to numerous practices in the UK as well as providing support to students of Strathclyde University (UK) and the New York College of Architecture and Urban Design.

PRIVATE OWNERS
Whether you need a house extension, renovation or a house conversion or you simply need more space but don't really know what to do, we can help you design a specific solution that meets your needs within your specific budget. We can design you a brand new house fully bespoke including the design of furniture and lighting or simply provide you with an off-the-shelf design from a specific manufacturer. We can design, get you planning permission, building warrant and guide you through the construction phase.
If you have an empty site or thinking of buying one, we can do a preliminary design to "test the waters" with the planning authorities and help you take the right decision on whether the site can be developed or not. We can also advice you on the financial viability of your project.
Every project starts with a first visit of your house or site and we carry a first consultation with the client in order to understand fully the client's needs and the constraints of the particular project. This first consultation can take up to 2 hours long but it is well worth as the more information we have the more likely we can provide you with a solution that meets or exceeds your needs. This first consultation is free of charge. Within a week, we will provide you with a specific quote for our services highlighting the different stages and timescales that will be required for your project. We will also highlight any additional costs that you might incur from other parties i.e. engineer fees or local authority fees. This helps our clients to budget plan for the project and reduces their risks.
We can also provide you with specialised services such as structural engineering or building surveying, but equally we are happy to work with other consultants that are chosen by our clients.

HOUSING ASSOCIATIONS
With over 10 years of experience in the field of social housing, we have helped Housing Associations and local authorities to deliver their new build programmes. From identifying suitable sites and carrying out capacity exercises to procuring design teams and contractors up to completion of the development, HOOS provides Housing Associations with a fully comprehensive development service.
Specialised services include financial appraisals, design efficiency assessments, grant funding applications, design team coordination and HA committee reports.
We have been delivering projects on behalf of West of Scotland Housing Association, Linthouse Housing Association and Stirling Council as well as providing advice to other RSL's. This includes a complex 319 units development involving 3 different RSL's and a 36 units Passivhaus development, the largest Passivhaus development in Scotland.
We add value to your projects by managing them efficiently, reducing delivery timescales and costs and helping you maximising grant funding. In 2019 we successfully attracted £41M in grant funding from Scottish Government towards our social housing projects.

HISTORIC BUILDINGS
At HOOS, we are experienced in the field of conservation, restoration and repair of historic buildings, including condition assessment, refurbishment advice and the sensitive design of conversions within historic settings and have worked in projects across Europe and the UK.
If your building is listed or in a conservation area HOOS can help you renovate, convert or extend it in a sympathetic and inspiring manner. We use our knowledge of history and urban design as well as construction techniques to stitch in new extensions, upgrade existing stock or to design new buildings in historic settings.
Through thorough analysis of the building and its context we produce inspiring architecture that gains the necessary approvals and fits well within the historic environment.
